Take Time Out For Yourself!

I’m back!!! And happy to be so!!

I ended up taking most of September off from my business, including writing any blogs and newsletters, as I really needed to take a step back and re-evaluate what I was doing. During July and August I was doing some things in my business that really just didn’t feel in alignment with me and who I am, and the more I tried to push through it and keep going, the worse it got. In the end I was feeling anxious, not sleeping well and feeling depressed and confused. And if that wasn’t enough I also ended up throwing my back out, just to be really out of alignment on all levels, including physically. 🙂

With my back out of alignment, I could barely move, so I was forced to slow down. This was really a blessing though (despite the fact that I was in a lot of pain), because I was able to take a break and really take stock of where I was at, both professionally and personally (which, let’s face it, are interrelated, anyway). I gave myself some space to heal, and didn’t do anything business related until I felt inspired to do so, which took at least a couple of weeks. But I am so glad that I didn’t force myself through this period, but was gentle with myself and just allowed things to unfold, both my own healing, as well as clarity on where I wanted to go with my life and business.

The art of allowance is actually a great lesson that I was reminded of throughout this. Allowing and trusting that the universe (or Spirit, or God, or however you prefer to think of it) has a plan, and all we need to do is let go, and let God, so to speak, is really one of the greatest lessons we can learn in this life, in my opinion. To follow it, isn’t always easy, though. Fear is probably the number one thing that gets in the way of this. I think our society inadvertently raises us to be afraid, and makes us forget that in truth there really is nothing to be afraid of.

The universe (or God) always has our back, and it’s when we don’t trust that, that we get in trouble. And I am talking as much about myself here, as I do anyone else. Anxiety and fear is definitely something I have experienced a lot of in my life, and it’s not easy to let it go. But if we can shift from fear into love, then there is no way fear can still exist. What I have come to believe, is that shifting into love means opening up to our own inner self, our soul, or inner essence, which is unconditional love. If we can connect to and be in that state as much as possible, we will be able to let go of fear more and more.

I am reading a book right now by Anita Moorjani, called Dying To Be Me. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it! It is about a woman who gets cancer and on the brink of dying, she has a near death experience. From that experience she realizes that there really is no judgement, that all we have waiting for us on the other side, is love, unconditional love. We are the ones that put all these requirements and judgements on ourselves, and expectations on who we are supposed to be, and how we should live our lives. The truth is all we have to do is be ourselves, and pursue our own happiness and bliss in life. And yes, I realize it’s not always easy to just follow your bliss, when there are such things as rent and bills etc. that need to be paid. But we can try as much as possible.

Start with one small thing that you can do to feel more love and joy in your life, whether it is taking your husband (or wife) out on a date, taking some alone time and going for a walk, or treat yourself to some ice cream. It doesn’t have to be anything big, even little acts, where we can show ourselves that we really care about our own joy and happiness, makes a big difference, especially if we do them on a regular basis. For me, I have decided to write daily “love notes” to myself, where I will highlight something that I appreciate about myself. I will use a special journal just for this purpose, my own “love note journal”. 🙂 If you want to join me in this, that would be awesome (but only if you really want to, as it has to resonate with you)!
